Overview
Vision: The Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission (GCRPC) Environmental Resources Program shall preserve and protect the natural resources of the region through regional coordination & collaboration among public, private, and non-profit stakeholders.
Mission: GCRPC supports and promotes the regional environmental priorities of stakeholders by providing the primary forum for strategic planning, along with the development & implementation of projects addressing environmental issues.
GCRPC’s Solid Waste Management Program is funded by a grant from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to provide funding for eligible local and regional municipal solid waste management projects in support of the goals and objectives of the adopted Golden Crescent Regional Solid Waste Management Plan (RSWMP).

Regional Environmental Resources Advisory Committee (RERAC)
The Regional Environmental Resources Advisory Committee (RERAC) serves the Board of Director’s as a multi-sector collaborative working group responsible for the development, implementation, assessment, and update of the 20 -Year Regional Solid Waste Management Plan as well as the biannual implementation project selection process for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
What RERAC Does:
- Serve as a regional voice by providing input, expertise, and new ideas in the development and implementation of regional and local environmental projects.
- Develop, Implement, Assess, and Update the 20-year Regional Solid Waste Management Plan.
- Conduct necessary meetings to discuss solid waste management business, monitor implementation of projects, and determine the progress of goals and objectives.
- Conduct scoring and prioritization of project proposals presented for grant funding from TCEQ. The projects will be presented to the GCRPC Board of Directors for final approval and then submitted to the TCEQ for authorization of funding.
- Perform any other tasks as directed by the GCRPC Board of Directors to support regional and local environmental projects.
