Fair Housing Webinar
April 29, 2026 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Organizer: Hosted by RGCOG, GCRPC, WCTCOG, AACOG, MRGDC, ATCOG, SETRPC, SPAG, ETCOG, and PBRPC
Location: Virtual Webinar
The webinar will cover best practices to strengthen local government understanding of how fair housing laws apply to everyday governmental functions, including zoning, planning, code enforcement, and housing program administration. Federal and state fair housing laws apply broadly to local government actions, and even well‑intentioned decisions can result in unintended discriminatory impacts or expose a jurisdiction to legal and financial risk. This webinar offers practical guidance on avoiding common compliance pitfalls, lawfully addressing community opposition, responding to reasonable accommodation requests, and ensuring consistent, nondiscriminatory decision‑making across departments.
Additionally, fair housing training supports compliance with HUD and other grant requirements, helps safeguard federal and state funding, and equips elected officials and staff to foster inclusive, sustainable communities while reducing the likelihood of complaints, investigations, or litigation.
