<h1>General Description</h1>
<p>This position is considered safety-sensitive and is governed by Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol testing regulations. Primary responsibilities include the transport of passengers in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner. Assists the transportation division by helping to maintain vehicles in a condition of operating excellence so that the vehicles are safe, clean, and functional.</p>
<h1>Examples of Work Performed</h1>

<p><strong>Lift/Maneuver/Operate:</strong> Able to assist with personal items (maximum lifting 50 lbs.). Requires horizontally transferring weight, 1 hour, 75 ft without mechanical assistance. Required to assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicles (maximum weight allowed on wheelchair lifts is 800 lbs., including the client and wheelchair; wheelchairs are pushed or slid side-to-side without lifting). The driver opens the engine compartment hatch, adjusts mirrors, and operates the bypass on farebox requiring upper body forces of 55 pounds for up to 1 hour.</p>

	<li>Required to pass Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and ongoing testing as required by 49 CFR Parts 40 and 655.</li>

<p>Performs entry-level to moderately complex (journey level) computer systems support and analysis work. Works under limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.</p>

	<li>Reviews and prioritizes incoming operational issues and requests for technical assistance related to computers, software, and standard office equipment; identifies and logs the type of problem or request; and monitors the status to ensure timely resolution.</li>
	<li>Provides routine technical assistance troubleshooting software and hardware problems, as well as office equipment such as phones, printers, and fax machines; recognizes and escalates difficult problems to a higher level of support.</li>
	<li>Provides guidance to employees on installation standards, operating standards, new procedures, and peripheral equipment functions.</li>
	<li>Installs, maintains, and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, or information resources equipment.</li>
	<li>Detects errors in job control statements and notifies affected parties following established procedures.</li>

	<li>Performs an array of operational, data entry, reporting, and administrative activities related to assigned transit programs and services.</li>
	<li>Assists with daily transit operations including fixed-route, demand response, commuter, and purchased transportation services.</li>
	<li>Assists with the collection, organization, and entry of operational data including ridership, mileage, service hours, and vehicle status.</li>
	<li>Responds to routine service inquiries and assists with resolving customer concerns.</li>
	<li>Assists with monitoring compliance with operational policies, procedures, and service requirements.</li>
	<li>Maintains organized electronic and paper records in accordance with agency and audit requirements.</li>

<p><strong>Operations Specialist II</strong></p>

	<li>Performs comprehensive operational support activities and assists in analyzing service delivery, staffing coverage, and operational performance.</li>

	<li>Assists with preparing operational reports, summaries, and documentation for internal management, TxDOT, FTA, and advisory committees.</li>

<p><strong>GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS </strong></p>
<p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</strong></p>

	<li>Graduation from high school or possession of a GED is required. An associate’s degree in transportation, logistics, business, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.</li>
