Special Issues Related to Training for Terrorist Events
Again,
our strategy will be to build on community resources to support existing first
responders through developing community emergency response teams and
neighborhood level basic response skill training programs. Our region has a wide
variety of training levels and access to training resources.
Cultural outreach will include communities of all cultures, bringing
these populations into training activities and to incorporate private industry
in planning and participating in exercises.
Priority Needs for First Responder Exercises
Most of our first responder exercise activities
are fostered by existing agencies and are often limited to single discipline
exercises. The Golden Crescent
region has a need to expand on existing exercises to include multiple
jurisdictions and a variety of personnel and agencies.
State, Regional, and Other Resources needed to access for
Exercises
Exercises
require personnel training, not only in pre-exercise topics, but also in the
development and coordination of training exercises. Increasing the scope of exercises to involve a
variety of responders and multiple jurisdictions will improve the response to an
actual event.
To
achieve multi-jurisdictional exercises requires funding to support the planning,
development and execution of the exercise. Funding should support the costs of
carrying out the exercise.
